UK commits to allocate over $5 billion to Ukraine
The UK has committed to providing Ukraine with approximately £4.2 billion (USD 5.12 billion) in financial assistance, according to the Agreement on Security Co-operation between the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland and Ukraine.
"Since the full-scale invasion, the UK has to date committed to provide approximately £4.2bn in fiscal support, and more than £640m in bilateral humanitarian, stabilization, recovery and reform assistance to meet Ukraine’s immediate needs," the agreement states.
According to the terms of the agreement, the funds will be allocated for humanitarian, stabilization, recovery, and reform assistance to meet Ukraine's urgent needs.
Rishi Sunak's visit to Kyiv
It is worth noting that today, on January 12, the Prime Minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak, arrived in Kyiv.
He emphasized that the purpose of his visit is to demonstrate that support for Ukraine will not diminish. The Prime Minister also assured that Britain will stand with the Ukrainian people for as long as necessary.
It is expected that during his visit, the Prime Minister will announce a new package of military aid to Ukraine.
