The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stated after a meeting in Russia with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he is ready to support efforts to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine, reports Reuters.

According to the agency, on Sunday, Putin held an informal conversation with Mohamed at his residence outside Moscow.

"We continue to make efforts to mediate the exchange of prisoners. And I assure you that we will continue to work in this direction. We are ready to make any efforts to resolve crises and in the interests of peace, in the interests of both sides," said the UAE President.

Mohammed arrived in Russia ahead of the BRICS summit, set to start on October 22 in Kazan.

Yesterday, on October 20, it became known that Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva canceled his trip to the BRICS summit in Russia.

Earlier, Putin refused to go to the G20 summit in Brazil, where he could be arrested under an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant. He stated that the ICC's decision is easy to bypass.
