U.S. military in the Middle East attacked with missiles and drones
U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria were reportedly attacked four times with rockets and drones on Thursday, November 23, according to Reuters.
A U.S. military representative, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that American and international forces were attacked at two locations in northeastern Syria using multiple rockets and a drone.
Additionally, in Iraq, several drones were launched from the Ain al-Asad airbase west of Baghdad towards the direction where U.S. forces are stationed near Erbil airport in the north of the country.
These attacks occurred the day after the U.S. struck a Hezbollah-affiliated militia that is aligned with Iran.
Officials from the United States state that as of November 23, there have been 36 attacks on international and American forces in Iraq, and 37 in Syria.
Attacks on U.S. military bases in the Middle East
Since the start of the conflict initiated by Hamas against Israel, there have been numerous attacks on U.S. forces in the Middle East. According to the U.S. Central Command, these attacks have resulted in injuries to 20 individuals.
In response, the United States carried out strikes on two Iranian facilities in Syria. Following these strikes, Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Iraq in early November, coinciding with attacks on U.S. bases.
On November 21, the U.S. conducted airstrikes in response to an attack on the Al-Asad airbase in Iraq, resulting in the elimination of five to eight militants.
