U.S. launches airstrike on militants in response to attack on base in Iraq
Yesterday evening, the United States conducted airstrikes in response to an attack on the Al-Asad airbase in Iraq. As a result, several militants were eliminated. A representative of the U.S. Department of Defense announced this, reports Fox News.
According to official sources, a multiple rocket attack on the base by Iranian forces occurred on Monday and resulted in minor injuries and slight damage to infrastructure.
A U.S. Department of Defense representative stated that an AC-130 gunship carried out an airstrike on a vehicle in close proximity to the base.
As a result, approximately five to eight militants were killed.
This is the fourth U.S. airstrike
Since Hamas militants started a war against Israel, there have been dozens of attacks on U.S. forces in the Middle East.
It is noted that this is the 65th confirmed attack on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria since October 17.
The military response is the fourth time the U.S. has conducted an airstrike since the increase in attacks in October. The other counterattacks occurred on October 26, November 8, and November 12, all in Syria.
Attacks on U.S. bases
According to information from U.S. Central Command, as of October 25, 20 people were injured in these attacks.
In response, the U.S. carried out strikes on two Iranian facilities in Syria. Against the backdrop of these strikes on U.S. bases in early November, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Iraq.
