U.S. destroyer intercepted missile launched by Houthi rebels in Red Sea
The USS Gravely destroyer successfully intercepted a missile launched by the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. It is noted that the missile was intercepted just 1.6 kilometers away from the American ship, reports CNN.
According to CNN, this is the closest Houthi attack to a destroyer during the entire U.S. operation in the Red Sea. USS Gravely utilized its Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) for the aerial defense to intercept the missile, designed for short-range anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense.
One source from the television channel noted that the USS Gravely's previous inability to intercept the missile doesn't necessarily indicate an advancement in Houthi tactics. In earlier instances, Houthi missiles were intercepted by USS Gravely at distances of 8-12 km.

In early January, the U.S. and the UK conducted powerful strikes against Houthi-affiliated targets in Yemen in response to continuous Houthi attacks on civilian vessels in the Red Sea.
Subsequently, it was reported that a Houthi drone attacked a British military ship in the Red Sea.
