The United States and Britain have conducted a series of airstrikes targeting weapon storage centers and training bases of Houthi rebels in Yemen, according to ABC News.

It is reported that the strikes were carried out simultaneously in several cities, utilizing both maritime and aviation weaponry.

According to media reports, the attacks on the Houthi group in the western part of Yemen are being executed by American and British aircraft, as well as Tomahawk land-attack missiles launched from U.S. Navy vessels in the Red Sea.

The official spokesperson for the Pentagon noted that the United States and Britain conducted strikes from air, sea, and submarine platforms. These strikes targeted radars, anti-aircraft defense facilities, as well as storage and launch sites for drones, cruise, and ballistic missiles.

Strikes targeted Sanaa International Airport and the provinces of Sanaa, Al-Hodeidah, Saada, and Damar.

An unnamed U.S. official also noted that the strikes achieved their objective. According to the official, the strikes against Houthi positions in Yemen have concluded, but the U.S. reserves the right to respond if threats persist.

Houthi attack on ships in the Red Sea

In November 2023, Houthi rebels in Yemen initiated attacks on ships in the Red Sea. On December 16, a British destroyer successfully intercepted a drone heading towards a merchant vessel.

As reported earlier, the United Nations Security Council demanded an immediate cessation of Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea. The UN also warned that an escalation of tensions could lead to more significant consequences.

It was also noted that the United States and the United Kingdom successfully repelled the largest Houthi attack on ships in the Red Sea.
