U.S. aid blockade to Ukraine already impacting battlefield - Stoltenberg
The blocking of U.S. aid to Ukraine is already having an impact on the battlefield, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"We are already seeing the consequences of the United States' failure to make a decision," he says, answering a question about the lack of ammunition for Ukrainian troops, upon arrival at the Alliance headquarters in Brussels.
Background
On February 13, the United States Senate supported a bill to provide $95 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. In particular, the document provides over $60 billion for Ukraine.
The U.S. has been unable to approve new funding for Ukraine for several months due to disagreements between Republicans and Democrats. Thus, the allocation of new packages of American military aid has been suspended.
For the bill, which was supported by the Senate, to come into force, it must be approved by the House of Representatives and signed by U.S. President Joe Biden.
