Types of tears
Basal tears: These are tears constantly secreted by the tear apparatus of the eye to provide lubrication and nourishment to the eye, as well as to act as a protective barrier for the cornea.
Reflex tears: These are tears that arise due to eye irritation. They can also occur due to consuming spicy food, vomiting, coughing, yawning, or exposure to bright light.
Emotional (Psychic) tears: These are tears associated with a person's psychological state, more specifically, with the emotional component.
