Two strategic goals of offensive: What are Putin's war plans for 2025?

Vladimir Putin has decided to continue the offensive in 2025 and seize more Ukrainian territory. However, these plans are unlikely to be realistic, according to the RBC-Ukraine article.
According to RBC-Ukraine, it seems Vladimir Putin is still convinced that his army is doing well on the front lines, and in a war of attrition, he can completely outlast Ukraine.
According to RBC-Ukraine, in 2025, the Russians plan to recruit about 343,000 people for contract service. This reinforcement, even considering the current losses of the aggressor's army, will allow it to maintain the current intensity of combat operations at least until the end of the year. The Russians have serious problems with armored vehicles, but they have been able to widely replace them with motorcycles, quadrocycles, and buggies.
Several informed sources in Ukraine's Defense Forces confirm: Moscow has already set priorities for the summer-autumn campaign and currently has no plans to curtail hostilities.
Two strategic goals
According to RBC-Ukraine's sources, during the summer-autumn offensive campaign, the enemy plans to focus its main efforts on accomplishing two strategic tasks.
- The first is to capture the entire territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions within their administrative boundaries.
- The second task is to create a so-called buffer zone 15-20 kilometers deep, primarily in Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
"In case of success in these areas, Russia plans further offensive actions to seize new territories in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions," one of the interlocutors said.
At the same time, sources in Ukraine's Defense Forces predict that during the summer-autumn campaign, Putin will not be able to significantly strengthen his positions on the battlefield. They consider Russia's ability to reach the administrative boundaries of the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions or fully capture one of them by the end of this summer or even by the end of the year unrealistic.
Russian offensive
Sources in the leadership of Western countries have reported Russia's plans to continue the offensive in the summer of 2025. In particular, a US representative told CNN that the likely offensive will be aimed at capturing more territory in eastern Ukraine. "Putin will attempt to take whatever land he can get right up to the outskirts of Kyiv," said a second US official. "The Russians are going to make every effort to get what they can."
Moreover, Putin announced on May 22 plans to seize part of Ukraine’s territory at the border.
