Two more checkpoints to be blocked on Ukrainian-Polish border tomorrow
In Poland, tomorrow, February 12, two more checkpoints on the border with Ukraine are planned to be blocked. Participants of the action will restrict the movement of trucks, according to the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, during a telethon.
He noted that today two checkpoints, Yahodyn and Rava Ruska, remain blocked. As of this morning, there are approximately 700 trucks lined up at the Yahodyn checkpoint and 400 trucks at the Rava Ruska checkpoint.
Demchenko added that the possibility of a new blockade of the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint, which was unblocked yesterday, cannot be ruled out.
The spokesperson reminded that tomorrow in Poland, two more checkpoints on the border with Ukraine - Ustyluh and Ugryniv - are planned to be blocked.
"I want to remind you that from tomorrow, the participants of the action have also announced that they will block the directions of the checkpoints Ustyluh and Ugryniv. These actions may start around 10:00," he said.
Ukrainian border blockade
On November 6, 2023, Polish carriers began strikes on the border with Ukraine. Polish protesters demanded the return of the pass system for Ukrainian carriers.
In January, the Polish government signed an agreement with carriers to unblock the border with Ukraine. Under the agreement, the parties agreed to suspend protests at the approaches to three checkpoints on the border until March 1.
At the end of January, the European Commission recommended extending the cancellation of import duties for agricultural products from Ukraine until 2024. Polish farmers immediately declared that they did not support this decision.
As a result, on February 9, Polish farmers again blocked three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, but yesterday they unblocked the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint.
