Zelenskyy reveals first details of meeting with Tusk

Today, July 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The two leaders discussed investments in Ukraine, air defense cooperation, and other issues, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Tusk.
"We discussed many bilateral issues, including the historical dialogue between our countries. I spoke about our diplomatic work in Washington," Zelenskyy wrote.
The president added that he discussed defense cooperation with the Polish politician, as well as priority issues related to protecting Ukrainian cities and communities from Russian strikes.
"Anti-ballistic defense is a top priority. Ukraine’s security and protection are also Poland’s security and protection. Our cooperation strengthens both our region and all of Europe," the President emphasized.

According to him, security challenges facing Ukrainians were also discussed separately. The head of state emphasized that Ukrainian citizens who left for Poland because of the war must feel safe.
Tusk said that the Ukrainian president briefed him on the progress of negotiations in the United States.
"We also discussed Polish investments in Ukraine, cooperation in missile defense, and support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression," Tusk added.
Earlier, Zelenskyy arrived in the Polish city of Lublin on his way back from the United States.
This was Zelenskyy's first visit to Poland since relations between Kyiv and Warsaw deteriorated over the UPA controversy and the decision to revoke the Ukrainian leader's Polish state honor.
As previously reported, diplomatic tensions between Kyiv and Warsaw emerged in late May after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy decided to name one of the Armed Forces units in honor of UPA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army) heroes.
The move sparked strong criticism in Poland. Warsaw considers the Ukrainian Insurgent Army responsible for the Volhynia tragedy of 1943–1945, which it recognizes as genocide against the Polish population.
Amid disputes over historical memory and assessments of the UPA's activities, Polish President Karol Nawrocki decided to strip Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle. Later, Ukraine's former presidents also renounced the award.
