Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk welcomed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's steps to strengthen Ukrainian-Polish dialogue.

What Tusk said

The Polish prime minister responded to Zelenskyy's statement on X.

"I welcome with satisfaction and hope Volodymyr Zelenskyy's words and decisions regarding relations between our countries, which should be based on mutual respect and truth," Tusk wrote.

He emphasized that Poland is ready for a "serious and friendly dialogue" on both the issues that unite the two countries and those that remain points of disagreement.

What Zelenskyy announced

Earlier, President Zelenskyy instructed the government to intensify contacts with Poland. In particular, Ukraine will:

  • open the archives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Foreign Intelligence Service related to the tragic events in Volhynia;
  • issue more permits to continue search and exhumation work;
  • expand the capacity to carry out these efforts.

As previously reported, Zelenskyy announced five decisions aimed at improving relations with Poland, stressing that Ukraine seeks good-neighborly, equal, and mutually beneficial relations with all of its European partners.

The announcement came after Poland adopted a resolution marking the anniversary of the Volhynia tragedy, prompting Kyiv to call on Warsaw for an equal dialogue.
