Russia is preparing for another escalation, and the next six months will be decisive for the region's security. As a result, NATO and its individual members cannot rule out Russian provocations, according to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Strengthening Ukraine's air defenses, risks to Alliance
The Polish prime minister spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who shared his assessment of the situation on the battlefield and in the region.
Tusk noted that Russian escalation continues to intensify, requiring Europe to take immediate action.
"Ukraine needs greater air support, which is also crucial for our security. This is a task for all of Europe," the politician stressed.
He emphasized that the next six months will be critical, so Poland and NATO must prepare for any scenario, including direct Russian provocations against NATO member states.
Russia prepares for escalation
Tusk noted that the Kremlin is seriously preparing for the challenges of the coming fall and winter.
According to him, intelligence data and public signals confirm that the threats are real.
He also added that if Russia were to launch potential aggression against any NATO country, particularly the Baltic states, the response must be immediate and forceful to prevent the war from spreading further.
Escalation risks, possible scenarios for Russian attacks
As previously reported, Russia prepares for another escalation of hostilities not only in Ukraine but across the region.
Based on assessments by Western analysts and senior officials, the fall and winter period could prove decisive for the entire security system.
In particular, the Kremlin is increasingly considering options to expand the war and take radical measures. Some Russian officials have not ruled out the possibility of using nuclear weapons as a last-resort tool to pressure the West.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also warned that Russia is preparing for a major escalation of the war, stressing that the next seven to eight months will be critical for the security of neighboring states and NATO countries.
