Tusk condemns Orbán for calling Putin 'honest' amid Christmas night attack
The head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, on his Twitter account, condemned his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán, who, in an interview, referred to the dictator Vladimir Putin as an "honest player" at a time when Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine on Christmas night.
"On Christmas night, Russia carried out a massive missile strike on Ukrainian cities. Meanwhile, in a Christmas interview, Prime Minister Orbán called Putin an honest partner for Hungarians. And Minister Romanowski patiently repeated the learned wishes of the day: 'Merry Christmas,'" Tusk wrote.
This Tuesday, Orbán gave an interview to Mayar Nemzet, in which he called Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Putin "honest partners."
Massive shelling of Ukraine on December 25
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has regularly bombarded Ukraine using a wide range of weaponry: artillery, missiles, aviation assets, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
On the night of December 26, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones. In the morning, the drones were joined by a massive barrage of missiles and ballistic projectiles. Explosions rocked several regions of the country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during the attack, over 70 missiles and more than 100 drones were launched.
Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, commenting on this attack, emphasized that it was Russia’s response to discussions about a so-called "Christmas truce."
