Turkish Foreign Minister to visit Kyiv after meeting with Putin in Moscow

Russia's Vladimir Putin and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met in Moscow to discuss efforts to end the war in Ukraine. In particular, further developments after the talks in Istanbul, Reuters reports.
Hakan Fidan is on a two-day visit to Russia, where he met with Moscow's chief negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, and plans to meet with Sergei Lavrov.
In addition to Ukraine, the talks focused on bilateral economic and energy issues.
The place and date of the next talks between Ukraine and Russia have not been agreed upon, but Türkiye is ready to host them.
At the end of May, the parties exchanged prisoners of war in a 1000 for 1000 format and provided written conditions for a possible ceasefire.
A Turkish source told the agency that Ankara will continue to play the role of a mediator, and Hakan Fidan plans to visit Kyiv soon to continue negotiations.
Russian sources said that they are also considering the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman as potential sites for peace talks.
Russia-Ukraine talks in Türkiye
In mid-May, the first direct talks between the delegations of Ukraine and Russia in a long time took place in Turkey. The meeting was part of Ankara's efforts to mediate an end to the war.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and the Russian delegation was headed by Russian Presidential Advisor Vladimir Medinsky. During the talks, the parties discussed a large-scale exchange of prisoners of war in the 1000 for 1000 format. The exchange took place in three stages over the weekend.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also arrived in Türkiye intending to hold a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin. However, Putin refused to engage in a dialog.
