Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not responsible for the war in Ukraine, but it was possible to avoid it if the US had a different leadership, said Donald Trump during a conversation with journalists at the White House.

"I don't hold Zelenskyy responsible, but I'm not exactly thrilled with the fact that that war started," stated Trump.

In his opinion, this is a war that the United States did not start, and that might not have started if he had been President.

"You'd have millions of people living right now that are dead, you'd have cities that would be open and thriving. But they are not with us any longer, they are smashed to smithereens, laying on the ground in million pieces, getting hit by rockets, bombs and bullets," Trump said.

At the same time, the American leader emphasized that he was "not happy" with everyone involved in this war.

"I spoke with President Putin a lot about it. Now I'm trying to get him to stop because, as you know, Russia is a lot bigger. It's a bigger military force," he added.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump found those responsible for the war in Ukraine, and it was not Russia.

He said that the previous US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are to blame for the war in Ukraine.

At the same time, Trump said today he is awaiting a response from Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a proposed ceasefire. According to Trump, a decision is expected this week.
