Trump on Ukraine-Russia ceasefire: We've had some very good responses

The United States is negotiating with Russia for a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine and has already received "some very good responses", stated US President Donald Trump at the US Department of Justice.
Trump reminded that Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire if the US manages to "get it" with Russia.
"It's not easy, it's a tough one, but I think we're doing it," he said.
He noted that the US is now trying to convince Russia to agree to a ceasefire. And there have already been productive discussions on this issue.
"We've had some very good talks about it. We've had some very good responses," Trump added.
Temporary ceasefire
Earlier this week, the US presented Ukrainian officials with its proposal for a full ceasefire with Russia. According to RBC-Ukraine sources, Ukraine responded by stating it would agree only if the truce remained temporary to avoid a frozen conflict.
Following this, US officials began discussing their proposal with Russia. Notably, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Instead of agreeing or refusing, Putin started setting his own conditions for such a temporary ceasefire.
Despite this, Trump remains confident that negotiations with Russia are going well.
