US President Donald Trump said he has instructed the Department of Justice to remove all prosecutors who remained from Joe Biden's presidency. He claims the department has become more politicized than ever before, according to The Hill.

"Over the past four years, the Department of Justice has been politicized like never before. Therefore, I have instructed the termination of ALL remaining “Biden Era” US Attorneys. We must “clean house” IMMEDIATELY, and restore confidence. America’s Golden Age must have a fair Justice System – THAT BEGINS TODAY!" Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The Hill reports that there are 93 US attorneys across the country, each responsible for a specific judicial district. Two districts share a prosecutor. In each district, the prosecutor serves as the chief law enforcement officer. Replacing federal prosecutors by the president is a common practice once a new administration takes office.

The White House, for its part, sent notices about the dismissal of several US attorneys appointed by Biden. Earlier, as The Hill notes, several prosecutors had already resigned on their own.

Notable firings under Trump

Upon taking office as US president, Donald Trump carried out a series of dismissals and cuts. Specifically, he and his administration, along with officials, dismissed: employees of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA); the head of the National Archives, Collin Shogan; and the inspector general of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Paul Martin.
