Trump threatens China with tariffs and tougher measures over supplying arms to Iran

The American leader said he would impose 50% tariffs on countries that assist Iran. China could be among those affected.
During the interview with Fox News, Trump was asked to clarify his statement that any country supporting Iran or supplying military equipment would face 50% tariffs, in particular, if that applied to China.
"Yes, China too. I hear news reports about China giving shoulder missiles and anti-aircraft missiles. I doubt they would do that because I have a relationship, and I think they wouldn't do that, but maybe they did a little bit at the beginning. I don't think they would anymore. But if we catch them doing that, they get a 50% tariff, which is a staggering amount," the US president responded.
China may help Iran
On April 11, CNN reported that, according to US intelligence assessments, China may increase military support to Iran by supplying air defense systems. This could potentially shift the balance in the region following a fragile ceasefire.
Earlier that night, Donald Trump responded to the report. Speaking to the press, he warned China of serious consequences if Beijing decides to supply weapons to Iran.
