US President Donald Trump announced that in two weeks, he will make a very important decision regarding Russia and Ukraine if the war does not end.

He explains his position by saying that he thought in two weeks he would understand Russia’s attitude and Ukraine’s attitude toward the negotiations, adding that it took two sides.

When journalists asked Trump to clarify what exactly he would do when the two weeks he had specified as the deadline had passed, Trump replied that it would be a very important decision.

"I think I will know the attitude from Russia and Ukraine. There will also be a very important decision. Either massive sanctions, or massive tariffs, or maybe I will do nothing and say this is your war," he said.

Trump also said that he would later decide who to blame for the peace process not moving forward.

US President says if there are reasons for that, he will understand.

Before that, Trump said that he would like to hold a meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Earlier, he had stated the opposite — that he did not want to attend this meeting.

At the same time, Trump is somehow convinced that to end the war, Kyiv will be forced to accept agreements mainly on Russia's terms. Kyiv itself does not believe this: President Zelenskyy, in a conversation with Trump, noted that the issue of a possible exchange of territories could be discussed, but the final decision must be made taking into account the position of the Ukrainian people.

Ukraine rejected the other Russian conditions — withdrawal of troops from Donbas, official status for the Russian language, and refusal to join NATO and the EU — as soon as it heard about them.
