Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said that Washington may return to the issue of Cuba after completing actions related to Iran, emphasizing the need to consider the situation around the island separately, according to a broadcast by Sky News.

Trump on further US priorities

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, outlined possible steps regarding Cuba while speaking to journalists on April 13.

According to him, the issue is not closed and remains on the agenda, but its consideration has been postponed until the completion of current actions related to Iran.

Possible restrictions and policy

Journalists reminded Trump of his previous statements about potentially imposing tariffs on countries that supply fuel to Cuba, as well as the shift in Washington’s rhetoric.

The head of the White House noted that the situation requires separate analysis and decisions.

"Well, we’re going to see with Cuba. Cuba’s another story," he said. The president claimed Cuba has been a "terribly run country for a long time" with a "bad system."

Assessment of the situation in Cuba

Donald Trump also pointed to the factor of Cuban Americans living in the United States, noting that many of them supported his policies.

He said the situation in Cuba remains difficult and has been marked by serious violations.

"They were treated very badly. In many cases, family members have been killed. They’ve been beaten up and mugged and like, terrible things happened in Cuba," he said.

What comes next

The US president described Cuba as a "failing nation" and suggested the possibility of returning to this area of foreign policy in the future.

According to him, specific decisions may be made after the current phase is completed.

"We may stop by Cuba after we’re finished with this (in Iran — ed.)," Trump concluded.

Donald Trump said China would face serious consequences if it supplies weapons to Iran, stressing that Beijing could face "big problems."

Notably, US Vice President JD Vance said that talks with Iran held in Pakistan did not result in an agreement to end the war. According to him, Tehran is not ready at this stage to abandon its nuclear program.
