The special representative of the US President, Steve Witkoff, will hold talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow, while Army Secretary Den Driscoll will meet with the Ukrainian side to advance coordination of the peace plan between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia, according to US President Donald Trump.
According to him, over the past week, the American team has made significant progress in preparing an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.
"The original 28-point peace plan, which was drafted by the United States, has been fine-tuned, with additional input from both sides, and there are only a few remaining points of disagreement," the American leader stated.
Trump instructed his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to hold talks with the Russian President in Moscow, while Army Secretary Den Driscoll will meet Ukrainian negotiators.
The US President added that he will be briefed on the results together with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
US peace plan
The US peace plan to end the war in Ukraine has already been revised since it first became public. The updated document was negotiated during a meeting between Ukrainian and American officials in Geneva. According to the Financial Times, it now contains 19 points instead of the original 28.
Key issues are expected to be discussed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump, though the date of their meeting remains unknown. The Ukrainian delegation has said it is ready to hold leader-level talks before the end of November.
FT also reports that Ukraine has agreed to reduce the size of its Armed Forces to 800,000 troops.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to exert pressure and threatens to reject the updated US plan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow will not support the document if it does not take into account the agreements reached between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump during their meeting in Alaska.
