Trump sees 'enthusiasm from both sides', comments on chances for peace in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump stated while speaking to reporters that he sees enthusiasm from both Ukraine and Russia regarding peace negotiations.
Journalists asked Trump what he wants to see from both sides for the ceasefire talks to continue.
"I have to see. My whole life has been one big negotiation, and I know when people are playing us and when they are not. I have to see an enthusiasm to want to end it. And I think I see that enthusiasm. I think I see it from both sides," the President said.
Trump was also asked whether he thinks Russia is playing with the US regarding the negotiations.
"No, nobody’s playing me. I’m trying to help. We are going to see if we can get it done. I think we have a really good chance of getting it done," he added.
The US may withdraw from talks
Today, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States may step back from its role as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia. According to him, this will happen if there are no signs of a swift agreement between the warring countries in the coming days.
Following that, President Trump confirmed that the US could withdraw from peace negotiations on Ukraine. Such a scenario is possible if one of the parties obstructs peace efforts.
At the same time, Bloomberg reported that the US peace proposal stipulates that Russia will retain control over the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
