The United States has conducted "good talks" with Ukraine and Russia, leading to significant progress on a peace agreement, stated US President Donald Trump, according to Sky News.

"We are well advanced on a peace deal," Trump stated.

He noted that there were "good talks" with both Russia and Ukraine and added that Russia had shown itself "very well."

Trump also said that an agreement between the countries must be reached before the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.

Notably, this statement came after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said earlier this month that he would be ready to send British troops to Ukraine if a peace agreement were reached.

"Putting security into Ukraine is the easy part, the deal is the hard part," Trump remarked.

The American leader also mentioned the upcoming minerals deal, which is set to be signed tomorrow with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump emphasized that this deal would serve as a “backstop” for Ukraine's security. Before meeting with the US President today, Starmer stated that only US guarantees could ensure lasting peace in Ukraine.

On February 27, President Trump met with the British Prime Minister. The two leaders planned to discuss Russia's war against Ukraine.

During the meeting, Trump also remarked that he could not believe that he called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a dictator.
