Trump says Zelenskyy and Putin are ready to make a truce deal

US President Donald Trump believes that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russia's Vladimir Putin are ready to conclude a truce agreement.
On a plane en route from Washington to Miami, he told reporters there has already been significant progress in talks on Ukraine. Trump also said that Europe has not been able to achieve positive results in dealing with Putin.
“I think he's ready to make a deal,” Trump said, referring to Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He clarified that he had spoken with him “not too long ago.”
“And I think that President Putin is ready to make a deal,” Trump added.
When asked about the visit of Putin's representative Kirill Dmitriev to the United States, Trump said that he did not talk about specific people.
“I'll just tell you that there's a lot of good conversation going on about Ukraine and Russia,” he summarized.
Negotiations to end the war
In March, the United States held a series of meetings with delegations from Ukraine and Russia. The United States mediated the truce talks and proposed a 30-day ceasefire.
Following the meeting, Washington and Kyiv issued joint statements. Read more in RBC-Ukraine's report.
Russia also issued a statement. However, its version specified a number of conditions for a truce with Ukraine at sea.
Today, the United Kingdom and France accused Vladimir Putin of delaying ceasefire talks to end the fighting in Ukraine.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov recently said that his country “cannot accept” the US proposal to end the war against Ukraine.
