US President Donald Trump admitted that in his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he did not make progress on the issue of ending the war in Ukraine, according to his statement while speaking to journalists at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington.

“We had a call. We had a pretty long call. We talked about a lot of things, including Iran. And we also talked about the war with Ukraine. And I'm not happy about that. I did any progress today,” he said.

Trump–Putin conversation

On July 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a planned conversation with US President Donald Trump.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Putin and Trump are completely different individuals, with very few topics in common for discussion.

The most recent conversation between Trump and Putin took place on June 4.

During the phone call, the Kremlin leader expressed dissatisfaction over Operation Spiderweb, conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine, which destroyed several Russian strategic aircraft.

Trump noted that Putin promised a retaliatory strike. However, the American leader did not clarify whether he tried to persuade the Russian president not to escalate the situation.
