Trump says Jewish voters 'would have a lot to do' if he loses
At the Israeli-American Council National Summit on Thursday in Washington, D.C., Republican candidate Donald Trump claimed that he would hold Jewish voters responsible if he loses the November 5 election, The Washington Post reports.
Trump mentioned that American Jewish representatives should give him their support due to his stance on Israel, and questioned the common sense of Jews who support Democrats. “The Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss. It's only because of the Democrat hold, or curse, on you,” Trump stated.
Additionally, in his remarks, Trump called Harris “the candidate of the forces that want to destroy Western civilization” and reiterated that Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel would not have happened if he were president.
Trump's campaign has placed its hopes on attracting Jewish voters to have a greater chance of getting electoral votes in states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. However, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted between August 26 and September 2, only 35% of American Jews support Trump, while Harris outpaced her opponent and received 65% of voters willing to vote for her.
