Poll reveals how much Harris leads Trump after debate
Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, leads her Republican competitor Donald Trump. The current gap stands at 5%, according to Reuters.
According to a two-day Reuters/Ipsos poll, Harris leads by 5% among registered voters, an increase from the poll results from August 21-28.
Among voters who said they heard at least something about Tuesday's debate, 53% said Harris won, while 24% said Trump won. The rest said they had not heard or did not respond. About 52% of those familiar with the debate said Trump seemed confused and did not appear sharp, while 21% said the same about Harris.
Among Republican voters, one in five said Harris put Trump on the defensive in the contentious presidential debates.
About 52% of voters familiar with the debate said Harris "gave the impression of having higher moral integrity," compared to 29% who said the same about Trump.
Voters generally rated Harris higher than Trump on her demeanor. When asked who appeared more dignified, 56% of those familiar with the debate favored Harris, compared to 24% for Trump. Forty-nine percent said Harris “seemed like someone who would listen to me and understand my concerns,” compared to 18% who felt that way about Trump.
The survey included 1,690 American adults nationwide, including 1,405 registered voters. The margin of error is about three percentage points for registered voters.
After the debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in June, 67% of CNN respondents said Trump had won. A few days ago, a debate took place between presidential candidates Trump and Harris. However, Trump’s allies believe he lost.
Trump subsequently announced he had no plans to hold further televised debates with Kamala Harris.
