US President Donald Trump stated that over the past week, his team has made tremendous progress toward ending the war between Ukraine and Russia, according to his post on the social media platform TruthSocial.

“Over the past week, my team has made tremendous progress with respect to ending the War between Russia and Ukraine (a war that would have never started if I were President!)” wrote the White House chief.

He also highlighted that last month, 25,000 soldiers were killed in the war. Trump added that the original 28-point US peace plan had been revised with input from both sides, leaving only a few points of disagreement.

“In the hopes of finalizing this Peace Plan, I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow and, at the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will be meeting with the Ukrainians,” Trump wrote.

According to him, he and his team - including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and other key political figures - will be kept informed about the results of the negotiations with the Russian side.

Trump also expressed hope for a meeting with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia, but under one condition: that the peace plan is in its final stage.

“I look forward to hopefully meeting with President Zelenskyy and President Putin soon, but only when the deal to end this war is final or, in its final stages,” the US leader concluded.

US peace plan

Donald Trump recently stated that Steve Witkoff will hold negotiations with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, while Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll will meet with the Ukrainian side to advance the agreement on the peace plan between the US, Ukraine, and Russia.

Regarding progress on the so-called US peace plan, in recent days, the Ukrainian side, Europeans, and American representatives held talks in Geneva. According to media reports, the plan was reduced from 28 points to 19.

The revised plan reportedly removed, among other things, territorial concessions to Russia and reductions in the size of the Ukrainian army.

Regarding Russia’s reaction to the peace plan, the Kremlin stated that it will not accept the plan if it does not include the conditions Putin outlined to Trump in Alaska during their meeting on August 15.
