Trump says he wants immediate peace deal between Ukraine and Russia

The US aims to end Russia's war against Ukraine through a peace agreement, though a ceasefire usually happens faster, stated President Donald Trump during a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Trump recalled that before his second presidential term, the West had no communication with Russia. However, when he returned to the White House, one of his first calls was to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
"We are working on deals right now, and the big one is to get the war stopped, whether it is a ceasefire or agreement. I'd like to go directly to an agreement but a ceasefire will always happen a little bit quicker," he added.
Ceasefire
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would agree to a ceasefire under two conditions: strong security guarantees and continued weapons supplies for Ukrainian defenders.
According to the Financial Times, following US President Donald Trump's call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Washington and Moscow were reportedly aiming to reach a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia by Easter (April 20) or May 9.
Meanwhile, Fox News claimed that the US and Russia had developed a plan to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, consisting of three key points.
The first step in the reported plan is a ceasefire, followed by elections in Ukraine.
