Russian president Vladimir Putin does not want to stop and end the war in Ukraine, believes US President Donald Trump, citing Sky News.

Trump said he was disappointed with Putin and did not believe that he would end the war in Ukraine.

"I'm very disappointed with the conversation I had today with President Putin, because I don't think he's there, and I'm very disappointed. I'm just saying I don't think he's looking to stop, and that's too bad," Trump said, adding that he will speak with Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, later.

This statement came after yesterday's phone call between Trump and Putin, which, according to the US president, did not bring any results in ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump's talk with Putin

On July 3, Vladimir Putin announced a planned phone call with US president Donald Trump.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Putin and Trump are completely different people, so they have few common topics to discuss.

The previous talk between Trump and Putin took place on June 4. Back then, Putin expressed his dissatisfaction with Ukraine's Operation Spiderweb, which resulted in the downing of numerous Russian strategic aircraft.

Trump said that Putin had promised to strike back. It remains unclear whether Trump tried to persuade Putin not to escalate.

Yesterday, Russia said that the phone call between Trump and Putin was "frank and constructive." Yuri Ushakov, Putin's international affairs adviser, claims that the two leaders are “on the same wavelength.” According to him, Putin told Trump that “Russia will continue to pursue its goals” in Ukraine and “will not back down” from its goals in the country.
