Trump says he is unlikely to run for a third term: What is known

US President Donald Trump is unlikely to run for a third term, the US leader said this in an interview with CNBC.
When asked whether he plans to run for US president again, Trump replied: "No. Probably not."
At the same time, he admitted he would like to become US president for a third time.
"I’d like to run, I have the best poll numbers I’ve ever had. You know why? Because people love the tariffs, and they love that foreign countries aren’t ripping us off anymore," the US president explained.
The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution limits the presidency to two terms. Trump is currently serving his second term, following his first from 2017 to 2021.
However, as Politico reports, the president’s allies have repeatedly floated the idea of a third term despite the constitutional ban. There are possible ways Trump might attempt to circumvent the restriction, including repealing the amendment or running for vice president and then ascending to the presidency.
Last November, before officially assuming office again, Donald Trump jokingly said he might run for a third term.
