Trump's team accuses Iran of hacking email
The campaign team of US presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced that their computers were hacked, according to the Associated Press.
The Trump campaign headquarters has suggested that Iranian operatives may be responsible for the theft and dissemination of confidential internal documents. The team did not provide specific evidence, but the claim followed a Microsoft report detailing attempts by foreign agents to interfere in the 2024 US presidential campaign.
The report highlighted that in June, an Iranian military intelligence unit sent a phishing email to a high-ranking official in the presidential campaign using a hacked email address of a former senior advisor.
Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung accused foreign sources hostile to the US of the breach.
"These documents were obtained illegally and intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process," Chung said.
It is also noted that recently, Trump’s plane made an emergency landing due to technical issues.
Additionally, it was reported that, according to The New York Times, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is leading Trump in three key states, which are often decisive in presidential election.
