Ukraine expects US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner to arrive in Kyiv for talks later this month, with their visit scheduled after Easter, according to Presidential Office head Kyrylo Budanov, cited by Bloomberg.
Budanov says the delegation may also include Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
"Kushner, Witkoff, Lindsey Graham — those are the ones expected to come. Who else will be there — we'll see," he told Bloomberg.
Although Witkoff and Kushner have previously visited Russia to meet with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, this will be their first visit to Ukraine.
So far, US officials have not confirmed the visit. An unnamed American official said the matter is under discussion, but no final decision has been made regarding the Kyiv trip.
Ukraine aims to obtain clear assurances from the United States on the type of security guarantees it is willing to provide to prevent further Russian aggression in any peace agreement with Moscow.
The outlet notes that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously invited US negotiators to Kyiv without specifying a timeline. He also said the visit to Ukraine could precede the next US delegation trip to Moscow.
Trilateral talks to end the war in Ukraine were paused after the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. Reports indicated that Trump might even withdraw from the negotiation process because of Iran.
However, the White House recently stated that Donald Trump still considers it possible to resolve the issue of ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
