Trump's return poses clear threat to Europe - Head of European Central Bank
The potential victory of Donald Trump in the presidential elections in the United States poses an obvious threat to Europe. This statement was made by the President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde, according to her interview with France 2 channel.
Lagarde mentioned Donald Trump's activities during his presidency from 2017 to 2021.
"Just look at the trade tariffs, the attitude towards NATO, and the fight against climate change. In these three areas alone, in the past, American interests did not align with European ones," said the head of the ECB.
She added that she does not believe Trump's reelection would leave Europe alone in its support for Ukraine. Lagarde noted that several members of the U.S. Congress strongly oppose the brutal war unleashed by Russia and will continue to finance and support Kyiv.
