The peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump stipulates that Ukraine must cede to Russia, without a fight, a territory the size of Luxembourg, AFP reports.

It is reported that this conclusion was reached by the outlet based on an analysis of data from the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

In particular, the US initiative envisions Ukraine agreeing to withdraw from approximately 2,300 sq. km of territory. For comparison, the area of Luxembourg is 2,590 sq. km.

The plan proposes that Kyiv pull its troops from nearly 5,000 sq. km in the Donetsk region. Under Trump’s plan, this area would supposedly become a buffer zone. Similarly, the Ukrainian Defense Forces would have to leave the still-held 45 sq. km in the Luhansk region.

In exchange, Moscow would be required to withdraw from:

  • 2,000 sq. km in the Kharkiv region

  • 450 sq. km in the Dnipropetrovsk region

  • 300 sq. km in the Sumy region

  • 20 sq. km in the Chernihiv region.

The plan also envisions recognizing Crimea, as well as the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as de facto Russian.

In addition, a freeze along the front line would effectively leave a "land corridor" to Crimea under Moscow’s control through the occupied parts of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

Ultimately, the US-proposed plan requires Ukraine to cede 20% of its territory in exchange for 0.5%.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump set a deadline for Ukraine to approve the peace plan. The deadline is next Thursday, November 27.

Today, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the points with US Vice President J.D. Vance and, after the phone call, stated that he positively views Trump’s realistic proposals.

Prior to this, in an address to the nation, Zelenskyy promised to defend Ukraine’s national interests while preparing the plan.
