This will be Witkoff and Kushner's first visit to Kyiv since President Trump returned to office.

The negotiators will depart on September 4 and hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Saturday.

They will then meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Sunday, September 6.

The visit by Trump's envoys comes 10 days after CIA Director John Ratcliffe visited the heads of Russia's intelligence and security services in Moscow, the outlet writes.

Witkoff and Kushner also met with President Trump at the White House on Thursday to discuss the trip.

Ukrainian and US officials said they have been discussing a trip to Kyiv for several months. According to them, the trip was recently interrupted several times for various reasons. They eventually settled on September 5-6 as the dates.

Previous talks

Talks between Russia and Ukraine mediated by the Trump administration were suspended in mid-February. That was when the war in Iran began.

Witkoff and Kushner, however, held separate talks with Russian and Ukrainian representatives. Little progress was made, however.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov told local media last week that US-mediated talks with Russia could resume in September.

Zelenskyy confirmed meetings with Kushner and Witkoff in Kyiv in the coming days.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would most likely still travel to Ukraine. Their visit is tentatively expected this Sunday, September 6.

According to a Reuters source, discussions about the US negotiators' trip to Ukraine are still ongoing. The sides cited September 6 as a possible date.
