Russia's war against Ukraine, which is killing people on a massive scale, must end. Moscow "has to get moving", US President Donald Trump writes on Truth Social.

“Russia has to get moving. Too many people are DYING, thousands a week, in a terrible and senseless war - A war that should have never happened,” Trump wrote.

The American leader also reiterated that the war “wouldn't have happened” if he had been president instead of Joe Biden.

Trump's post on Truth Social coincides with information that Steve Witkoff, the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, will meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Trump's patience may be running out

In March, US President Donald Trump proposed that Ukraine and Russia begin a complete ceasefire. Ukraine agreed, but on the condition that the ceasefire would last 30 days with the possibility of extension.

Russia, for its part, has indirectly rejected the US proposal. Vladimir Putin has set conditions for a complete ceasefire that are unacceptable to Ukraine.

According to Fox News sources, Trump realized that Putin was simply stalling the ceasefire with Ukraine. The United States began to seriously consider toughening sanctions against Russia. The restrictions may affect the Russian shadow fleet.

Yesterday, April 10, Trump said that a truce agreement between Ukraine and Russia could be reached “relatively soon.”
