Trump responds when Elon Musk may leave his position as head of DOGE

At some point, Elon Musk will have to step down from his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This could happen very soon, according to NBC News.
According to the head of the White House, he wants Musk to stay in his position as head of DOGE for as long as possible. However, he noted that there will come a time when he will have to step down, partly due to the companies that the billionaire manages.
When asked by a journalist how long Trump thinks Musk will work in his administration as a special civil servant, the president replied, "I mean, as long as he'd like." In response to a follow-up question about a specific date for Musk's departure, Trump also answered.
"I would think a few months," said the President of the US.
It should be noted that US Vice President JD Vance made similar remarks in an interview with Newsmax, stating that Musk will not be around forever.
"What we recognize is we were never going to get Elon for four years. That’s just not the bargain. He’s got businesses to run. He wants to focus on this problem, fix it and help us," said Vance.
As NBC writes, individuals holding special positions can temporarily serve no more than 130 days during the year.
Trump, in communication with journalists, also made it clear that after the billionaire's departure, the work Musk was doing would be taken over by department ministers, and DOGE will continue its work. This comment contrasts with Trump's statement earlier this week, where he said that at some point, the Department of Government Efficiency would cease to exist.
Musk's resignation
It should be noted that recently, Politico reported that Elon Musk would soon leave his position as head of DOGE. However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt denied this information, calling the edition "garbage". She added that both Musk and Trump had publicly stated that the billionaire would step down from his role as a civil servant when his incredible work in DOGE is completed.
We also reported yesterday that, according to Vance, Elon Musk will remain an advisor to Trump even after he steps down as head of DOGE.
"DOGE has got a lot of work to do, and yeah, that work is going to continue after Elon leaves. But fundamentally, Elon is going to remain a friend and an adviser of both me and the president," said the US Vice President.
