Trump rejects Zelenskyy's request for Patriot missiles — FT

US President Donald Trump refused to provide Ukraine with interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems even after a personal request from Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the Financial Times.
According to sources, Trump rejected Zelenskyy’s request during a meeting in the Oval Office on July 28.
The Ukrainian President asked his American counterpart to provide several hundred more interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems.
Trump immediately made it clear that he would not do so.
According to anonymous sources, Trump explained his refusal to Zelenskyy by citing a shortage of stockpiles in the US.
In addition, he added that these missiles were needed to protect American facilities in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf countries in the war with Iran.
It is noteworthy that during Russia's massive attack on Ukraine on August 5, air defense forces were unable to intercept any of the 28 Russian missiles.
Against this backdrop, Zelenskyy once again appealed to Kyiv's allies.
"Partners who are not yet ready to play a more active role in supplying interceptors can help by implementing new sanctions. A significant share of Russia’s ballistic missile production is still not under sanctions," the Ukrainian President emphasized.
He also reiterated that new steps are needed from the G7, the European Union, and all those who support the protection of life.
On August 5, Zelenskyy publicly rebuked partners who are slow to assist Ukraine with anti-ballistic missile systems.
