Republicans in the United States should expand the Russia sanctions bill by adding restrictions targeting Iran, US President Donald Trump said.

US president said the proposal to increase sanctions pressure on Tehran originated with Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
According to Trump, adding Iran to the existing Russia sanctions package is a critically important step that should have been taken long ago.
"Republicans should add Iran to the Russian Sanctions Bill. That's what Lindsey wanted to do, and it was going to happen," he wrote on Truth Social.
US bone-crushing sanctions against Russia
As previously reported, the updated bill imposing sweeping sanctions on Russia would require US President Donald Trump to introduce steep tariffs on the world's largest importers of Russian oil and natural gas.
The legislation, which the late Senator Lindsey Graham described as the defining work of his career, is intended to strengthen Ukraine's position ahead of future negotiations with the Kremlin.
Earlier, US lawmakers unveiled an updated version of the Russia sanctions bill. The revised legislation significantly increases economic pressure on Moscow and its key trading partners.
