Trump proposes death penalty for drug trafficking

US President Donald Trump has announced his readiness to introduce the death penalty for drug trafficking. Social advertising against drugs will be launched in the United States, stated the American leader at a meeting of American governors at the White House.
According to him, the administration will release ads aimed at discouraging Americans from using drugs.
Trump also called on individual states to impose the death penalty for drug-related crimes. He stated that in countries where the death penalty is in place for drug trafficking, there are no drug problems.
The President argued that the death penalty is humane, pointing out that drug dealers typically cause the deaths of at least 500 people on average. He admitted uncertainty about the country's readiness for such a measure but stated he was personally willing to support it for those involved in drug trafficking.
Drug problem in the United States
Earlier, President Donald Trump highlighted the growing problem of fentanyl entering the United States through Mexico and Canada. In response, Trump proposed a 25% tariff on imports from these countries.
However, after Mexico decided to send its soldiers to the border with the United States to stop the flow of fentanyl and illegal migrants, the decision on duties was suspended.
