The death of US Senator Lindsey Graham sparked a wave of speculation, but the White House says it sees no evidence of foul play, US President Donald Trump made the statement during a press conference at the White House.

Commenting on the senator’s sudden death, Trump said Graham had been suffering from serious health problems. According to the president, a likely cause of death was blocked arteries.

"At first, I heard it was clogged arteries because he did have clogged arteries. He had a problem with that. I wish he took better care of himself. And this is something... that is very almost undetectable. And if it happens, there's not much you can do about it," Trump said.

At the same time, the US president said he sees no reason to believe the senator’s death was the result of a crime.

"So I don't see a lot of evil there. I know there's all sorts of conspiracy theories going along, and I think the FBI is wasting their time if they're doing it yet," he added.

According to the US leader, speculation about a conspiracy surrounding Lindsey Graham’s death is unfounded.

As previously reported, US Senator Lindsey Graham died on the evening of July 11 after a brief sudden illness. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he had been one of Ukraine’s most vocal supporters in the US Congress.

Just days before his death, the senator visited Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian officials. During the trip, he called for increased sanctions pressure on Russia, continued military aid to Ukraine, and discussed possible paths to ending the war.
