30-day ceasefire

Last week, a meeting between Ukrainian and US delegations took place in Saudi Arabia. During the negotiations, the American side proposed implementing a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire with Russia. Kyiv agreed but warned that Russia might violate the truce.

After talks with Ukraine, the US delegation traveled to Russia for similar negotiations. However, as Putin’s aide Yury Ushakov stated, Moscow is not interested in temporary ceasefires with Ukraine.

At the same time, Putin himself said he agrees with the United States’ ceasefire proposal. However, according to him, there are certain "nuances" involved.

Today marks a week since the US first proposed the 30-day ceasefire. Despite Trump's warning that Russia could face "devastating" consequences if it continues the war, Moscow has yet to provide an official response.

Trump previously announced he would hold talks with Putin on the morning of March 18 Washington time. Speaking to journalists, Trump stated that Russia would "agree" to the 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine.
