US President Donald Trump believes that an agreement with Russia will end the war in Ukraine. The war will be resolved quickly, as Vladimir Putin himself wants it, according to a Sky News report.

The US President stated that the war could last for some time, possibly until an agreement with Russia is reached. He emphasized that an agreement with Russia is necessary, or else the war would continue.

He also mentioned that the war could either last a while or be resolved quickly, and he believed it would be resolved quickly. He added that he had spoken with President Putin and believed that Putin wanted to settle the issue.

Trump`s stance on war ending

During his election campaign and after taking office, Donald Trump promised to quickly end the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Recently, the US President started making openly pro-Russian statements and essentially accused the current leadership of Ukraine of being responsible for the start of the war.

Later, Trump adjusted his stance - he blamed Russia for starting the war but simultaneously accused former US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the invasion.

Moreover, the US President called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections" and criticized him for doing nothing to end the war over the past three years.

Trump sees one of the steps to a peace agreement as a deal transferring part of Ukraine and Russia’s natural resources under US control, particularly rare earth metals. In this context, Ukraine would supposedly repay the US $360 billion in military and financial aid.

Trump also stated that this week, President Zelenskyy is expected to visit Washington to sign the agreed-upon minerals deal between Ukraine and the US.
