US President Donald Trump believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not "mess around" with him during their in-person meeting, the American leader made this statement while speaking with journalists.

Trump was asked whether Putin had prepared a "strong hand" for tomorrow’s meeting.

In response, the president said that, in his view, the Kremlin leader would want to reach an agreement.

"I think, if I weren't president, he would take over all of Ukraine. It's a war that should have never happened. If I weren't president, in my opinion, he would much rather take over all of Ukraine. But I am president and he's not going to mess around with me," Trump said.

What Putin has prepared for Trump

The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled for August 15.

The American leader aims to organize a meeting with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, Putin plans to share certain "historical materials" during the meeting.

In particular, the Kremlin leader wants to convince the US president that Ukraine is allegedly an artificial state, using this argument to justify his full-scale war.
