Russian president Vladimir Putin plans to use geographical maps during his meeting with US President Donald Trump to promote the propaganda thesis that Ukraine is allegedly artificial, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation.

As the Center learned from the Defense Forces, the Russian leader is preparing certain “historical materials” for a meeting with Trump.

These are geographical maps that, according to Putin's plan, should prove to Trump that Ukraine is an “artificial state” that was formed at the expense of the territories of other countries.

This is supposed to justify the Kremlin's military aggression against Ukraine and Russia's claims to Ukrainian territories.

Such pseudo-historical speculation is a typical Russian propaganda technique that Putin himself has repeatedly used in his public speeches.

In general, such an approach is unacceptable from the point of view of international law, which clearly enshrines the principles of territorial inviolability, inviolability of borders, and the illegality of the use of force or threat of force.

"Most modern countries or parts of them were part of other states in the past. This also applies to the current Russian Federation, which was once part of the Golden Horde, and many of the current territories of the Russian Federation in the past belonged to other states - Germany, Sweden, Finland," the center noted.

No historical facts, let alone pseudo-historical fantasies, can be the basis for territorial encroachment and do not justify armed aggression against other countries.

Negotiations in Alaska

US President Donald Trump announced a planned meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, which will take place tomorrow, August 15, in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska.

The talks are scheduled to take place at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base.

Western media wrote that during the summit, Putin may offer Trump to recognize the occupied Ukrainian territories as part of Russia in exchange for the withdrawal of troops from other areas.

In parallel with the preparations for the meeting between the US and Russia, the European Union, together with Ukraine, has prepared its own plan for a peaceful settlement, which is to be presented for discussion during the meeting of the US and Russian leaders.

Ukraine has already formed five basic requirements, without which, in its opinion, a just peace cannot be achieved.
