Trump never said he would be at Kremlin’s beck and call - Ukrainian diplomat
Ukraine should not follow the 'all is lost' principle regarding Donald Trump's victory in the United States presidential election. The latter is an entrepreneur, and therefore it is necessary to think about how he can make money on Kyiv's support, according to Ukrainian diplomat and former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko.
“I don’t think we should adopt the attitude that ‘all is lost.’ That’s the easiest, but also the most mistaken approach. After all, Trump never said he would be at the Kremlin’s beck and call,” Ohryzko says.
According to the diplomat, Trump wants to make America great again, which is impossible by becoming the second in world politics and submitting to war criminal and dictator Vladimir Putin.
Ohryzko is convinced that Kyiv must now develop a clear project of what Ukraine can offer the United States. Trump is an entrepreneur and has always been involved in business. Accordingly, he wants to get results, including from US-Ukrainian relations.
In addition, the diplomat notes that the future president of the United States needs to explain what he will lose if Ukraine loses the war.
“[Trump] will sit down and consider, ‘If I help Putin take 20% of Ukraine, and then he continues, what do I gain? Just more problems. If I help Ukraine stand and defeat Putin, I’ll gain. Politically and economically.’ So what conclusion would Trump reach?” explains Ohryzko.
Trump's position on Russia's war against Ukraine
In early September, Donald Trump promised that after winning the election and becoming the head of the White House, he would initiate telephone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and dictator Putin to reach an agreement within 24 hours.
In addition, in the same month, Trump met with Zelenskyy, during which the Ukrainian president presented him with his plan to achieve victory.
Following the discussions, Trump noted that he wanted to reach a fair deal for all parties.
