Trump must increase pressure on Putin, says German Foreign Minister

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has called on US President Donald Trump to increase pressure on Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to bring Russia’s war against Ukraine to an end, according to N-tv.
Wadephul’s remarks came amid Trump’s successful mediation in ending the war in the Gaza Strip. During a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Georg Georgiev, he said that Trump had "made a decisive contribution to the Gaza agreement."
"And Germany is calling on him to continue his efforts to secure negotiations between Russia and Ukraine," the German foreign minister stated.
The minister added that the German government places great hopes on the US administration, "as President Trump has made it clear that he is interested in achieving peace agreements in various parts of the world."
"It is worth making every effort to launch a new attempt at a peace process in Ukraine now, before large-scale fighting flares up again," Wadephul concluded.
Gaza deal and plans for peace in Ukraine
That same day, US President Donald Trump, together with three Middle Eastern leaders, signed a peace agreement on the Gaza Strip.
He also said that after the Gaza deal, he intends to end the war in Ukraine.
