Trump may hold one-on-one meetings with both Putin and Zelenskyy, WP reports

US President Donald Trump may hold separate meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ahead of a possible trilateral summit, The Washington Post reports.
An unnamed senior Ukrainian official said the possibility of separate meetings was discussed during Trump’s call with European leaders yesterday.
The Washington Post writes that Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov’s decision to downplay the significance of the trilateral meeting highlighted ongoing tensions. At the same time, both sides are now seeking to be the first to meet with Trump, considering the advantages such a meeting could offer.
Trump–Putin meeting
The New York Times previously reported, citing sources, that US President Donald Trump intends to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin next week.
After that, the American leader plans to hold a trilateral summit involving Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Until now, there had been no information about plans for a separate meeting with Zelenskyy.
Today, August 7, the Kremlin leader stated that he is not opposed to meeting with Zelenskyy. However, he said that certain conditions would need to be created for that to happen and that such conditions are still far off.
